Juvederm Ultra

What is it?
Hyaluronic Acid, is a naturally accuring substance in human tissue, and therefore is non-allergenic. Its function in the body is to hydrate and add volume to our skin. It is a clear jelly-like substance and it is mixed with lidocaine.

How long does it last?
4 to 9 months, in some patients up to 12 months

What areas does it treat?
  • It is better for small areas (you often need two syringes of Juvederm to one syringe of Radiesse)
  • Lip augmentation – patients get topical numbing before treatment
  • Vertical lip lines (both within and above lip eg. smoker lines)
  • Tear troughs (depression under eyes along bony orbital rim)
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Marionette lines (puppet lines from corners of mouth to chin)

What are the most common complications?
Bruising and swelling occur in some patients, but varies greatly in severity. It usually completely resolves within 2 weeks.
